YANNA ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS

Hello, I am Yanna (Annan) Yue, a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (LGPC) who is passionate about helping clients find hope, healing, and resilience in the face of life’s challenges. With a master’s degree in Counseling from Johns Hopkins University, I bring a culturally sensitive approach to my work, appreciating the unique stories and strengths each client brings to therapy. My journey began in China, continued in rural New York for college, and later took me to Baltimore, Maryland, where I deepened my training. As an international student, I understand firsthand the challenges of adapting to new environments and balancing multiple cultural perspectives. This path has given me the opportunity to connect with people from diverse backgrounds, and I am dedicated to creating a supportive space where you can feel safe, understood, and empowered to grow.

I am fluent in both Mandarin and English, and I also speak Cantonese. While I understand Cantonese perfectly, I am less fluent in speaking it.

“As a therapist, I am both a partner and a mirror for reflection on your journey. My clients often describe me as compassionate, empathetic, and someone who truly listens. I strive to create a warm, non-judgmental environment where you feel comfortable sharing your thoughts and emotions.”

My approach is person-centered and strengths-based, and I incorporate elements of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help clients develop resilience and psychological flexibility. I believe in your ability to make positive changes and discover your inner strengths. I am here to support you in finding clarity, building confidence, and embracing the path that feels right for you

Who do I work with?

I primarily work with individuals navigating life transitions, cultural adjustments, and personal struggles such as anxiety and depression. For adults, I often use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and solution-focused approaches to support them in building resilience and setting meaningful goals. For teens, I focus on creating a safe and supportive space where they feel heard, using techniques like person-centered therapy and strengths-based approaches to help them build confidence and navigate complex emotions.

When working with couples, my approach emphasizes open communication, mutual respect, and understanding. I work collaboratively with couples to improve their connection, resolve conflicts, and foster deeper empathy, addressing issues such as communication problems, trust, and emotional distance

I support clients dealing with a variety of concerns, including:

  • Anxiety and stress management

  • Depression and mood disorders

  • Cultural adjustment and identity exploration

  • Relationship challenges, including communication and trust issues

  • Self-esteem and confidence building

  • Life transitions and goal-setting

Common Counseling Issues I Work With

My goal is to provide a compassionate, practical approach to each of these areas, helping you feel empowered to take meaningful steps toward healing and personal growth.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize, and why?

In my work, I use a blend of evidence-based approaches, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), person-centered techniques, and solution-focused strategies. ACT helps clients to develop psychological flexibility by accepting difficult emotions and focusing on values-driven actions, which can support long-term growth and resilience. I tailor my approach to each client’s unique needs, often incorporating grounding exercises, mindfulness practices, and positive psychology to build inner strength. For clients in couples or family counseling, I emphasize open communication and mutual respect to foster healthy, supportive relationships.
